While huntining, we attempt to keep everything "above board"; for me, the most difficult regulation to follow is the "hunter orange" cap/hat/vest/coat requirement . . . most years, I wear my old cowboy hat, topped off by a vest (see past hutin' pics), which works well enough. This year, I decided to try something contemporary, to help me "blend in" . . and hopefully, ward-off the appearance of BIG MIKE.

So, on the way through Olympus, a.k.a. Lower Dakota Territory, needing a break, the old Ford ranger pulled off at the Mitchell exit, and headed straight to Cabella's! Once inside, what appealed most was a "hunter orange" Rocky Mountain ElK Foundation cap - money was exchanged and WE were back on I-90, West bound, with the cruise-control locked at a comfortable speed, content with our purchase.

But once the huntin' started, on a WINDY opening morning, it quickly became evident that the "yuppie" cap style was not engineered for a "BOOMERS" head! ;) The thing spent more airborne time than a B-29 on a mission! Joe got to marveling at just how long the damn thing could "fly", and dubbed it the Red Menace.  . . thus, The Red Menace rode about the paririe astride the SS BRUIN . . . and THAT didn't settle well with HIM ! During a break, late the second afternoon, BIG MIKE made a sudden appearance, grabbed my Buck "Floding Hunter" (a constant companion for thirty plus years), and "modified" the dome - I was speechless . . . but, later, I had to admit:during His tenure on the paririe,  BIG MIKE had learned a few tricks - it worked . . . the cap, pulled a little further down, stayed put! ;)

I wasn't completely surprised when, the following day, HE and i met, eye-to-eye and struggled for control of the rifle and the TAGS! In the end, BIG MIKE had it HIS way . . . here, HE's pictured, with the wind over HIS right shoulder, nicely displaying the handiwork wrought via the folding hunter . . . I think HE and Joe (who believed this handi-work quite humorous) are co-conspiritors, in a plot to make me,  "look bad" . . .  as if THAT requires a plot! ;)  RG
