Howdy friends! I'm all excited about my new toy. Recently acquired an old target rifle. The deceased former owner wasn't around to help so I just today figured out what the barrel was chambered for. The dies said .308 but the chamber was too short for 308 AND too short for a 30x47HBR so I bumped a 30x47 back until it would chamber, loaded up a light bullet on top of a caseful of H322, put on the safety glasses and let 'er rip. Out came a .308x44 ! And the primer was still intact with no personal injury. Yay!
So you think "what's new about a 30x44?" This old dude is a Remington 722 cast bullet rail gun in 308x44 that weighs in around 50 pounds. Great fun!
