Mike, one of the Dakota Benchrest HBR shooters, Jim Minnig, has a Sightron that he's had on for two seasons now. It did have a problem with the coating on the objective lens after the first season, but Sightron replaced it promptly and at no charge. Mechanically it has been fine. The Sightron 6HBR scopes have a bigger field of view than any other HBR scope out there.
As far as reticle type, I've used both. With a scope with 1/4" adjustments, I do like a crosshair for 200 yd. shooting. With a 1/8" scope, I like the dot but I'm sure the crosshair would work just as well.
I have a new Burris HBR2 scope with the 1/8" adjustments and the .375 dot reticle, but didn't have a chance to try it before I put the gun away last year. "That's my brother" Todd put one on his gun last August and really liked it. He was having some sneaky scope problems all last season...the gun would shoot a nice 3-4X target and then plant one way out in the '9' ring, even when he hit the flags perfectly. After the Burris went on, it drilled X's like it was wired to the target.
All the 6X scopes can give you gas at times...Leupolds, Weavers, Burris, Sightrons, etc.
I do have a new in the box Weaver T6 at my house if you're interested...it's priced way under what they are going for now. It's got what Weaver calls a .210 dot, but it actually covers a .30 cal. bullet hole at 100 yds. -Al
