Randy,
I went from groups in the .5s-.7s with a .329 bushing to groups in the low to mid .2s with the .327 bushing without changing anything else. My .30x44 chamber has a .333 neck and my brass neck wall thickness is .0115 (Lapua). The load is about 37.5gr N133 and a 125gr Chism bullet in a 15 twist barrel. The .327 bushing groups have a horizontal distribution to them with very little verticle.
A compressed load of H322? 39.5gr? Is that H322 Extreme? I have never gone up that high. The highest charge I ever used with the 134 bullets is 37.5gr and with the 125s is 38.0gr. And I thought these loads were on the hot side in both of my barrels--I was having brass stretching problems.
I think I learned at the Nationals in LaGrande that my gun was out of tune and I verified it here in September when we shot a 100yd TCL match when I shot a very loose 249-9x and 4 of the 5 guys ahead of me shot 250s with high x counts. The conditions can be very tough here in Wenatchee in the summer--I just figured that I was having problems reading the conditions, but I think my gun may have been out of tune all summer long. When I look back in my records I can see a definate drop in my scores when I ran out of 134 and 135 bullets.
Thanks for the help, Paul.
