I believe the importantt thing to realize abuot this agenda Item is the recommendations of the score committee listed just after the agenda item itself. I believe the Score comm. will fine tune this process each year as they feel needed . I suspect this agenda Item will be passed but as amended to allow the comm. a good deal of latitude to adjust its structure as they feel appropriate. As to the comments that points should be adjusted to give more credit for beating more contestants that is a very good point if the sole purpose of SSOY is to determine the best score shooter.
However I believe the intended purpose of the SSOY program is also to encourage score shooting at all clubs. And points based on how many you beat would be very loaded against small clubs and so probably not good for the score shooting community in general. For that reason I do not think that approach is the best.
Another important point in the Committee recommendations is the statements that the awards will be determined by the Comm. each year.
I don't think IBS should get involved in cash awards or would want to do so.
I don't see this as likely to happen and it would be a lot of work for somebody to keep track of and nothing anybody says about how easy it would be is going to convince me otherwise.
Plus as a match director I do not want to see match entry fees increased any more and going up a $1 is a lot of extra work for the person handling registrations (me), it is more likely fees would jump $5 which is going to happen eventually anyhow but I hate to see it.
The above stated views are my own and have nothing to do with my position as IBS Webmaster .
