Edit

Hi Craig;

  I saw this post on BR Central earlier today and now that Randy has moved it over here, I thought I should chip in.

  I just built a 30BR  3 weeks ago so my experience with that specific case is limited but, I do have 3 years experience with the 118gr Bib-7 ogive- and the 17 twist Lilja barrel in my Hunter Rifle.

  I have found that my 30 BR likes a velocity about the same as my HBR rig(same bullet and primer). I am using H4198 Ext. in my 30BR and N133 in my 30X1.8 HBR case.

  I used a 17 twist Lilja HV taper for the 30BR. I twisted off the 6PPC barrel from my Panda/Mcm. and opened the bolt face and now I have a rifle I will put to more use.

  My velocity for both is 2960fps. I have observed that the the combination I use produces far less vertical due to side winds than when I used 134gr bullets and a 15 twist. I have discussed this with Larry in LaGrande and he has made the same observation since he started using a 17 twist barrel.(he shoots the 134gr 10ogive Bib) I believe it must be due to the bullet not being over stabilized by to high an RPM.

  I am going to take my 30BR to LaGrande for its first competition in Dec.(100 yards) Several of the shooters up there shoot VFS at the club matches in the Winter. My deer hunting partner this year (my 13 year old Grandson) is going with and will be shooting a 22PPC.(My first BR rifle) & ( his first BR match)

  Hope some of this is of value; report to follow.
