I am intending to put a 6x scope on my HV gun this year and shoot it in the VFS class. I was hoping to build another hunter gun and shoot both hunter and varmint hunter classes but the money isn't there, nor will it be next year.
I like shooting 2 guns, but will need to preload and have my act togethor. Switching from 6 to 36 power scopes is tough for me. If it doesn't work out, I'll simply put on the 36 power scope again. No harm done. I have the extra 6x scope, so it is really no big deal. Last year, I did not shoot in the VFS class all year long, stuck with the Varmint Hunter gun. On one occasion, I posted a score that would have won the VFS class. I have grown to appreciate the lower magnification scopes for the reasons that you mentioned.
