I quess my favorite scope for all kinds of hunting must be a 6.5 X 20 Leupold with a duplex cross hair. I have 8 of them. They are on everything from a 17 Javalena to a 300 RUM. A couple of them have target turrets; I have a tiny range chart taped to the scope barrel. I have them calibrated so that I range my target, be it RockChuck or deer, click in for the elevation and hold center.

I like the variable because when I am searching for something I have spotted, I can crack it down to 6.5 power and than when I acquire the target, turn it up and look them in the eye.
