Good topic Pat!....For a fixed power I find a 10X Leupold w/ a 1/2 min dot just about right for crows and chucks in my area, I have a 3X9 Leupold compact w/AO (1 min dot) on a .222 mag. to serve as a "light" call'in rifle and 4.5X14 Leupolds on my other two predator guns...both with "dots". I have hunted various varmints with fixed power Leupolds from 7.5 thru almost every power to16X and find a preference for 10X (w/dot of course!).As you can guess I prefer a "dot"...seems the older I get the more I like that style reticle!..... I think that you will find a lot of different opinions on this on Pat with no wrong answers...whatever a person likes, they normally shoot well and it will be interesting to watch the responses to your topic.
