Can you expand on the neck/shoulder issue with 220 Swift cases? I used to prefer to neck size only on my varmint cases, but my investment in a neck die for the 220 Swift was a complete waste. Nowadays, I prefer to full-length size with a Redding neck bushing die. This lets me just bump the shoulder and give the base of the case a squeeze, while the bushing lets me set the neck tension exactly the way I like it. This is very much the same set-up I use in my 6PPC bench rifle.
One thing I like a lot about my Swift is not having to turn brass! With 5 other rifles all wanting to be feed with turned cases, the “standard” neck is great!
By the way, I tried 40gn bullets in my Swift some time back, but it didn’t like them nearly as much as the 50gn bullets. You and some other fur hunters have got me all inspired, so I plan to try the 40s again in a few weeks when I get some range time. Hopefully I know enough tuning tricks now to get a result from the light bullets. I sure could get velocity before.
