Edit
someone that knows. sent this to Dan Lilja;
Hi Dan

I am wondering about this, is it easier to get consistently good results when making a 30 barrel especially the 17 twist? It seems like it may be due to the possibility of using a larger rod to drive the button, slightly less torque from the slower twist and the ability to use a bigger lap. I’m thinking of this in comparison to a 22 or a 6mm.

this was his reply:

Hi Dana,
No, not really. The smaller the caliber the slightly more difficult it is to drill but with a good setup even small diameter holes are easy to drill. And with rifling, we control the twist on the pull end of the button rod and also the helix is ground into the button at the same rate.
Best regards,Dan
