Al, though remaining slightly confused, I do know this - there will be no new BR rigs during 2004;what I have seems to be working ok - at least at odd intervals. ;)
I have several decisions to make, but thanks to our gathering at Todd's place, and having had the opportunity to handle the beautifuly made SGR #1, I have conclusively ruled uot the Ruger #1 - it was very nice, but just too heavy. That's one down.
Before heading for Wyoming next fall, I'll own two light rifles, based upon Rem. 700 short actions which I already own - these will be retired from "Hunter Rifle" configurations and converted into rifles as close as possible to the .250 Ackley which SGR made for you - including the "SAKO" style stock. I expect that Stan will risk his chamber reamer on doing either a a new Lilja or PacNor .257 barrel for me. Should I use a 1:12" twist? Have you used any of the 117/120 Gr. bullets . .and with what results? So, there's number two down!
Decisions call for careful consideration . . . I think I'll ponder the next one for a few more weeks . . but I'm leaning toward a 'lite' .220Swift , but another option could be a normal VT weight Swift and a 'lite' 17 Rem. - any comments? I won a reamer and a little input could help make up my divided mind! ;)
Keep 'EM ON the X! R.G.
