The two Hart 1:18s I mentioned above belong to other shooters, in other parts of the country - they behaved very similarly to Larry's 1:17 Lilja (which is/was highly UNUSUAL). Those three BBLs began shooting no better than bad tomato stakes, then, suddenly cut a 180 abd settled into WINNING form . . . as yet, I haven't heard a reasonable explanation. The two Harts 'came to life' with not nearly the 'were and tear' required by Larry's Lilja - they were shooting well after a few hundred rounds (still strange indeed), while the Head Beaver's BBL didn't 'wake up' for MUCH longer than most people would have put up with it( I believe around 1000 shots!) . . . the first case in recorded history, where "beating a dead horse" seems to have worked!
With the exception of Larry's strange duck, ALL of the Lilja 1:17s and PacNor 1:18s with which I have been involved [or aware of] have shown potential right away; even while fire-forming brass. This also Typifies the experiences with both Morrison and Krieger 1:18s, which are cut-rifled barrels. Excluding the three previous exceptions, without fail, the few 17/18 BBLs which have not demonstrated immediate promise, have been hampered by either gunsmithing related problems, improperly turned case necks or other "mechanical" problems. And once the problem was corrected, 'suspect'BBLs have proved very GOOD indeed!
Keep 'em ON the X! R.G.
