    Long range whackmaster...

Here's a pic of a rifle I recently finished up for a good pal of mine. He's going to use it for culling deer at long ranges from some shooting towers on his land as well as for a upcoming elk hunt.

Basically, it's a stock 300WSM BDL barreled action that I pillar bedded into a McMillan Sako Hunter pattern stock. I topped it off with the Talley lightweight ring/base setup and a Nightforce 5.5-22 NSX scope with the ranging reticle. The factory chamber is amazingly straight and centered to the bore and the barrel doesn't foul...even with some 150 flat base BR bullets at full tilt loads. H4350 and W760 work great with the 150's and H4350 and the Nosler 180's (for elk) shoot into nice small clusters (sub .75") as well. The trigger is the new Mark X and it's pretty decent at 2 lbs. and very crisp. His first Elk hunt was a bust so he's headed back to try again this week.
