The bucks have been in the bean-fields for the last couple of weeks . . .

It seems a little early - I usually begin observing them from about now, through the Fourth of July . .  . but, after seeing this one a few weeks ago, I broke out the Mathews and began practicing for fall - he's the best thing hanging about this spring. We got only three pics of him - that was on June 13 - nothing before or since . . . but we've seen him off an on: he's just camera shy . . . I decided to bring the "chip" in and see what it could tell: since June, 1, it had captured 1878 pics or, 626 events, at three pics per event. Of those events and pics, I was surprised to see the BIG ONE on only three "shots". I have been perusing the local bucks for acouple of weeks, as, due to the record flooding, they are somewhat concentrated.  RG

The questions is where he'll decide to live come fall . . . and, of course, whether he'll be where I can hunt - IF I can locate him, that is! ;) Dreamin' is half the fun! :)  RG

For comparison - here is a pair of semi-respectable bucks, "shot" on June 21 - fully one week later tha The BIG One!!

These are likely just turned two years old - for this locale, they are pretty poor for that age class . . they are WAY too good to be just truned one . . .

    Here's SNAGGLE-HORN . . .provided the opportunity, I'd arrow him this fall . . .

This isn't the best pic in the world, but it's the only one I've got . . . the "odd" shape and extreme mass of the left antler are visible - last year, the right antler was bent down over the eye, but still fairly massive . . it's not clear in this view . . . but appears to be growing out to the right, as opposed to turning down again . . .

    Randy,

Looks like yer having fun with the "trail camera"!....you have some shots of real nice deer and that one has a lot of character....thanks for sharing...;>) ...I have see more deer this year that any in the near past and with a "light" showing on our oaks last year we should have had a corresponding fawn crop but that appears not to be the case.

Thanks agian for sharing the neat pics!

Here's a typically NICE [probably] two year old - he'll make a solid "ten-point" -  this one "shot" on 6-29-08.
