    Bullit Makin

    Hello,

Name is Lee and I used to shoot BR about 10 years ago and am taking up the sport once again.  Has been fun looking over all the current wonderful new "stuff" available now.  Having used BIB bullets and seeing Randy's  a contributor here I thought a question about bullet making would get a great answer.  I remember really liking your bullets Randy and you were a great person to ask questions and get good answers.  This go around I wish to make my own bullets.  I'm waiting on a set of  Larry Blackmon's dies and press and seeing as you make a really fine bullet I thought you and any one else could help me get a good solid start on making a BR quality bullet.  Thanks,

    Lee

Hello, Lee! Welcome to the COLD and snow - over 1" here this AM and still coming down - Al and Stan are probably butt deep in the nasty white powder! :(

For now, RE bullet making, I'm going to pass off to the "search old forum" (or something to that effect - upper RIGHT corner) on the SGR Home Page - I think I did a serries of bullet making posts about three years ago - perhaps someone will know when it was. Also, there is some excellent info/instruction on the Benchrest Central forum - www.benchrestcentral.com - look in the FAQ section and you'll locate it.

The plain truth is that bullet making is extremely easy - there's no magic to it - making good bullets requires only three components: 1) good equipment; 2) good materials; 3) common sense . . . ok, I guess there IS a fourth attribute - mechanical aptitude. Now, the making of and maintaining the QUALITY and in the quantity with which I make BIB bullets . . well, THAT requires the brains of a BIG MIKE! ;) RG

    Re: Bullit Makin

We do have the old forum posts on this site, sadly they are not as useful as they could be and only really accessible through the search the old forum link.  That link is further dependent on what Google indexes.  There are 9200 posts from the old forum. A couple weeks ago over 6000 were indexed and searchable.  I searched to find the posts Randy alluded to and put them here and they were not there, I figured I'd see at least some of them.  So I checked google and right now they are only showing 60 posts from the old board.  I'm sure they'll show up again, but that doesn't help Lee Whiteley or anyone else.  So...

I took the law into my own hands.  Always wanted to use that line.  Sadly, my day to day work doesn't lend me much opportunity.  I dug through the old forum and assembled a blog entry with what I could find of the bullet making info Randy had posted.

So here it is for all to easily see.  Bullet Making Info
