Ya can't drive all the way to Wyoming and NOT shoot a few paririe dogs! ;)

With the generous welcome of the folks living there, I finally made time to take Donna out to explore THE RANCH - it was mostly HER trip, but, on the last afternoon, she did allow me to snipe a few prairie dogs - the local population has been decimated by the PLAGUE, so, we stayed off the ground! ;) Here's a pic which Donna snapped from "unoccupied" territory - just outside the only [well populated] dog-town we found. The rifle here is an old 722 Rem. (trued by Stan Ware) which I converted from 'HUNTER RIFLE", back into a huntin' RIFLE! ;) In it's current version, it, it wears a PacNor 1:12" twist SSM barrel, chambered by yours truly, using a Hugh Henriksen reamer, for the .204 RUGER . . .  what a prairie dog cartridge! Here's a pic Donna shot through the wind-shield - she can sit pretty still! ;) RG

Hey Randy, great pictures...you are correct, to go all that ways without pulling a trigger would be sinful!!  It looks like they've gotten some much needed moisture out there, green grass!

Thanks for sharing the pictures Randy. As Todd noted, it sure looks "GREEN"....much "greener" than I remember....but my only experience was a trip throught the northern part of that state during late June/early July in the early '80's and it was sure dry and "BROWN" then! Now, I have to ask this question.....does hanging one's foot off the side of the truck create a more "steady hold"?...looks like you may be try'in to hook your toe into the fender-well for a better grip..:>).......Hope You and Donna had a great trip! Take Care -H

Hope, the bottom pic was 'doctored'  - the top pic is close to natural; it was already turning a little brown - no rain at all during May, when they usually get about 3.4 inches! :( The morning we dorve into that pasture, it was trying to rain - and it did . . . just enough to make it slippery. But three hours later, it was bone dry as we drove back out! It was the best vacation I've had in a LONG time! ;) The hanging off the side of the truck was necessitated by Donnas 'bone collection' - i wasn't allowd to step on them! And, with a 20 caliber rifle, the 'dogs' need a hanidcap! ;) RG
