    Huntin' season approaches . . .

A few days prior to leaving for the NBRSA Hunter Nationals, I was watching the back-yard walnut trees offering sacrificial leaves to a NW breeze - it seemed a couple of weeks early - the first hint of approaching fall ! Then, over the last three days, the beans have begun to "turn" and the river-bottom cottonwoods are rapidly yellowing . . . but, two evenings back, I observed the REAL signs of  HUNTIN' season! About a mile N of the digs, on the return from a shootin' session, I spotted a pair of nice bucks (decent 2.5 year old 8-pointers, with about 17" spreads) pestering the soy-beans behind a neighbors house: the pair were starkly different - one, still in full velvet and sporting his splendid "RED" summer attire, while his pal, flashed freshly polished antlers and grey/brown FALL COAT ! ;) Now,  THAT got the blood boiling!  It's time to "string" the bows! ;) RG

The beans should be ready here for picking in a week or two and the leaves on the tree's along the Mn. river are starting to change colors..

I have a coyote hunting trip lined up for Az in early Oct. going to hang out with Les Johnson, Gerry Blair, Cal tailor,Randy Shaw, Rich Higgins and a bunch more of other coyote hunters.. I will hunt for 2-3 days and then hang out at camp and B.S. with the other hunters.

Once back home i have a month of work and then its time for full-time coyote hunting and coon calling as well.

I don't have any projects going on at Stan's this year so i will just have to drive over and say hi and let him know how my Pred. build is doing..

I did alot of pre season scoutting and i think this year is going to be the best, alot of animals out there.

. All have a good and safe fall and good hunting... Tim A.

Good Luck Tim, Have a safe, productive hunting season and make many good memories!.... as in the past I am looking forward to your stories and pictures that you are so kind to share..;>)...Fall is here and I know the time is near that I will see pictures and read stories of pheasant hunts in SD from the"Nyhus boys"and of succesful Whitetail and Mule deer hunts (also hopefully elk!) from this forums "Bulletsmith" RG...I also hope to contribute a "tale or two" myself..;>)......To all that enjoy the fall season whether it be hunting ,fishing or just getting ouside in the fall air..... may this be a great one for Ya! Tim, I agree that this year will be as good as we have had here in Kentucky in many years for several reasons....a mild winter and spring are conducive to good wildlife populations and from what I have seen while "out and about" I feel it will be a excellent year! Good Luck and Good Hunting All..... -H

Good luck in AZ, Tim! And get after with your home-field advantage: scouting always pays dividends!

The beans are disappearing fast around here - the harvest hindered by about 1.0" of precipitation a couple of nights back . . . the combines should really be rolling again today! Here and there, corn is also fodder for the hungry combines! ;)

I'm looking forward to hearing of your Arizona coyote hunt! RG
