For anybody that is familiar with me, they know my love for all types of hunting..especially hunting Roosters with Labs. A couple of days ago I lost my oldest Lab Shooter to cancer. 14yrs old and he was still a hunting machine and still the "big dog" as far as the pecking order with the other dogs he hunted with. Whether he was coverd in ice from a long retrieve from a duck blind, to several days straight in the field flushing and retrieving Roosters, he was always ready for more hunting. And of course always the "Ladies Man", especially when it came to hanging out with Lynn in the family room in the evenings and having his "after the hunt" bowl of beer.
Stan, Hope, and David know the loss one feels at the passing of a canine hunting buddy, it's the great memories though that stay with us all of our lives!
Attached is a picture of my hunting buddy's son Alec with Shooter on Alec's first hunt. It was hard for him to grasp that Shooter was older than he was. I think Shooter was giving the "kid" some tips for bagging a Rooster.
Take care, Todd
