For anybody that is familiar with me, they know my love for all types of hunting..especially hunting Roosters with Labs.  A couple of days ago I lost my oldest Lab Shooter to cancer. 14yrs old and he was still a hunting machine and still the "big dog" as far as the pecking order with the other dogs he hunted with. Whether he was coverd in ice from a long retrieve from a duck blind, to several days straight in the field flushing and retrieving Roosters, he was always ready for more hunting.  And of course always the "Ladies Man", especially when it came to hanging out with Lynn in the family room in the evenings and having his "after the hunt" bowl of beer.

Stan, Hope, and David know the loss one feels at the passing of a canine hunting buddy, it's the great memories though that stay with us all of our lives!

Attached is a picture of my hunting buddy's son Alec with Shooter on Alec's first hunt.  It was hard for him to grasp that Shooter was older than he was.  I think Shooter was giving the "kid" some tips for bagging a Rooster.

     Take care, Todd

     Todd,

Sorry to hear about the loss of Shooter. He was one of the greats and a family dog also. Be rest assured that he is up there in the big dogs heaven and is having a great time hunting and pleasing his master. I enjoyed him everytime I was over there. He was a big part  of the family and had more grit and ability than most dogs. He was one in a million.... for sure.

    Todd and Lynn,

We are so very sorry to hear of the loss of "Shooter".....The picture you posted in his memory is one of my favorites! I feel canine family members are special and "working dogs" have a "bond" with their masters that I can't really explain, but I sure you and Lynn understand.....they are "hunting pals" and family members and "letting them go" is always tough......

My condolence to you and Lynn

Todd and Lynn...sorry to hear about Shooter. He was a true huntin' machine and an absolute blast to hunt behind.

    Todd and Lynn,

So sorry to hear about Shooter.  He had a great family while he was here.  He definitely got to do what he loved, going out in the field often on the hunt for birds.  He was a great mentor to Cody as well and I'm sure that you will see glimpses of Shooter on many fall days.

    Be Well,

    Ryan
