Bench-Talk

With this school we plan on pairing students with instructors. But The beginning of the school will be taught with everyone together. By doing this, we will be able to give eveyone the same Safety Briefing, the same History of BR briefing, the same Bench Etiquette briefing, and the listing of times and schedule for the school. After that is taken care of the instructors will break off to go teach their students. From there, each instructor can key on things they feel most important with their students. The rest of Saturday is for instruction, Sunday is the match. Students and Instructors will shoot. There will be Awards, Trophies and a Merchandise Draw as well. The school will cover briefly Long Range BR, (600 and 1000) yards, and also Short Range Group shooting (100 to 300), but it will Key on IBS Score shooting, both Hunter and VFS style. This school is a Non Profit school for us (Francis and Paul). We Volunteered to do this, like we have for the past few years for the Postal Matches. Any profits from this school will be split by the IBS and The Iosco Sportsmen's Club.

Evidently, you three don't understand the concept of education and the purpose of such a school. In and at this IBS sanctioned school the prospective students will be taught the proper manner in which to develop a load and handle a benchrest rifle and benchrest equipment. They will be taught the proper way to clean a rifle and maintain it. They will be taught how to set up a loading table and a cleaning station. They will be taught safety on the way to a range and how to remain safe at the range and again on the way home. They will be taught range etiquette (very important) and behavior. They will be taught how to handle guys like you. The cost of tuition for the school is set at $150.00 but that includes membership in IBS ($40.00), lunch at the range Saturday and Sunday ($16.00), steak dinner at the range Saturday evening ($15.00), receive a school tee-shirt ($10.00), shoot an 100 yard IBS score match on Sunday ($12.00). They will receive their schooling commencing at 6:00PM Friday, with continuation all day Saturday, shooting much of the time for free. Many of the students will be shooting their instructors rifle. Don't make me list all the merchandise prizes we will have, as more is coming in daily. Now if the Buck Creek Renegades can counter any of these things let me know. Everyone will leave Tawas Sunday evening with a feeling that they have learned something; not that they have been skooled.

i'm all for your school many of the new guy's and a few of the old guy's need it.

Sister Mary Emotion taught us in school to respect the feelings of others. I think I missed school that day.

     While there are those who feel I'm adding to this thread from time to time to bring it back to the top of the heap, the fact of the matter is that I want everyone to know there will be a school and that there will be education and there will be merchandise and there will be fun and there will be camaraderie. I don't know how else to say it in order to get more people involved. Work with me here, George.

     Now isn't that better than just saying "Bump to top?" 

 I wish you the best on the program Francis. Have you put out the word other places and advertised any? I would think most FUTURE benchrest shooters don't realize that they are. When I was a lad I was a plinker until I met a guy that literally sweetalked me into coming out for a match. I didn't have a clue to what to expect but he helped with one on one attention to get me started. Bill Waldrop would do anything he could to get someone started in the game. What a prince of a guy and still is. He doesn't shoot competition anymore but still comes by to visit and point out convoluted thinking. Without Bill I would not be shooting benchrest.

My point is I hope you have a great turnout and guide the future competitors on the right track.
